September 22, 2006, Newsletter Issue #13: Surface Mount Deadbolt vs. Internal Deadbolt

Tip of the Week

There are two major types of deadbolt to use on a security door for you home. These deadbolts are surface mount deadbolt, which is easier to install and the internal deadbolt, which provides more security.

The surface mount deadbolt is placed on the exterior of your door so it easier to manipulate than the internal deadbolt that is drilled into the door jam. Using a deadbolt to secure your home will make it harder for thieves to get into your house. Surface mount deadbolts are the most common on security doors for residential areas. Besides being mounted internally, the internal deadbolt tends to be a heavy-duty lock that will provide higher level of security.
